The
following is a list of activities available near our
chalet in Planina pod Golico.
The activities are endless and this list is not exhaustive! The first activity links in blue have dedicated pages. For other activities I've given a few bits of information and links but drop me an email if you're stuck looking for information and I'll see if I can help.
Events - The Planina pod Golico village fęte happens at the end of August each year. Dancing, music, goulash, beer and homemade blueberry liquor are plentiful. Everyone is very friendly, but beware the blueberry hangover!
Throughout the year, especially in the summer months, there's always
something going on in Bled. You'll find folk dancing, classical music,
exhibitions and sporting events. The highlight is Blejska Noč, at
the end of July, when there are candles floating on the lake, concerts,
markets, a fęte and fireworks. At the end of June there is a
violin festival and in August a music festival. See the

Golf - Golf Bled or Golf Club Bled is the largest in Slovenia and renowned as one of Europe's most beautiful! 18 holes, par 73. Season is Mar - Nov.
Mini-golf - behind the Park Hotel on the main street in Bled.
Fishing - A license may be required. There are numerous fishing rivers in the area, in particular the Bohinjska.
'Wellness centre' - Very popular in Slovenia; massages, baths and beauty treatments galore! Bled has been a spa town for 100s of years. Bled Živa is one of many, with nice views over the lake.
In-line Skating - Try Bled Rafting for skate hire; the road around the lake is prefect. There's a big skating competition round the lake in early June!
Ice Skating - Skating is possible on Lake Bled, when it freezes in the winter. There is also an indoor rink behind Hotel Krim, on the main street in Bled.
Scenic flights, Skydiving and Gliding - Lesce airfield is 20 mins away in the direction of Ljubljana. Lesce ALC - call for more info
Tandem Paragliding

Jump from Vogel ski resort and cruise out over Lake Bohinj. No
experience neccessary. Contact
Pac Sports. Agora can organise paragliding at Lake Bohinj.
Horse riding

Mosnje near Bled, among others. Horse riding is also possible at the Lipizzaner
horse stud in
Lipica
(along with golf and tennis).
Agora organise horse riding trips in the National Park.
Rafting
and Hydrospeed

There are many tours but

Bled Rafting,
Pac Sports

Alter Sports.
Rowing
-
Rowing boats can be hired at various places around the lake: near the
castle or below the ski run. There's a proper
Rowing Club on Lake Bled but not sure
if tourists can row here?
Caving
-
The Karst region offers caves galore with many (such as
Postojna or Skocjan) catering for tourists. A few tour
operators run day trips including
Alter Sports.
Climbing

Pac Sports
can arrange days out. There is an outdoor climbing school at
Bohinj. Agora offer rock climbing for all grades at Bohinj.
High Ropes Course

Pac Sports has a high ropes circuit at Hotel pod Voglem on the shore
of Lake Bohinj.
Via ferrata
-
There's a via-ferrata guide book at the chalet. The best short routes are
from
Vršič
Pass (Prisojnik Window or Hanzova Pot on Mala Mojstrovka). If you
hike up to the Staniča
Hut on Triglav then Triglav or Rjavina are highly recommended routes
requiring 2 days minimum return from Aljažev Dom in Vrata.
Canyoning
- Raging Alpine rivers have carved
out beautiful canyons throughout this area of Slovenia. Canyon Mostnica
in Triglav NP doesn't reqiure a rope and has 3m jump-offs. We recommend
you go on a guided tour though. There are plently more technical
canyons to try.

Swimming

The mountains provide shelter from the North wind, so swimming in the
lakes is possible well into
Autumn (summer temps up to 24°C!)
Bathing is possible near
the castle, or at Camping Bled in Zaka. If cooling off in the lake, doesn't
appeal, many hotels have pools and thermal pools or there's an indoor
pool near the outdoor bathing area below the castle.
Tennis
- There are tennis facilities at a
few places including Hotel Ribno (near the lake), Little
Zaka (near Camping Bled and the Regatta Center), Koritno (at the Bio-Fit Fitness Centre),
Golf
Hotel or Alp Pension. Lessons
are available.
Zorbing

Strap into a padded ball and roll yourself down a big hill!
